Happy 4th of July and other Celebrations!

Our small town had a big parade and Indepence Day celebration today and for the first time in a long time Dave and I just sat and watched the parade with the kids instead of being in it some way.  The kids love getting candy!  We can watch the fireworks sitting in our yard tonight at 10 p.m.
Our daughter Carole just called on the 1st and said she's engaged and getting married in Sept out in CA. Yeow, not much time for planning!  We'll have a reception back here in Oct on the farm probably.
Ava and Courtney will be flower girls and Mariah will be a jr bridesmaid.  Bode, Jon and Ben will be cute boys in tuxes. Joey's nephew (Godson) will be the ring bearer.  Johanna and Alan will be in the wedding, too.  Carole and her fiance' Joey will be flying here next week for a few days and then Dave and I will fly out to meet the family in about 3 weeks.  (It took that long to find a few free days!)
Dave and I are planning a motorcycle trip to Wisconsin with friends in 2 weeks.
We really enjoy riding together on our new Spyder.
When Carole's here, we can celebrate Dave's mother Shirley's, Johanna's, Aaron's and Bode's birthdays.  Should be fun!
On the 19th two of our former foster daughters, now 14, will come to visit for a few days.  They come every summer and we LOVE it!
After we get back from CA then Bode and Courtney will be here for a few days at Grandpa and Grandma's.  The kids always have such fun together.

update on Weight Loss Warriors:  13 lbs off since June 1st           Yayy!

Jon's t-ball is done and Mariah still has Mon and Wed night softball games through the 22nd.  Mariah has Basketball camp for a week.  In August she will be in a Music Camp and Musical Production.

On a funny note...    The kids loved the three Vacation Bible Schools.  Each one was so different.  I asked them what they learned and Ben and Ava talked about Jesus dying on the cross for our sins.  Then Ben mentioned Jesus turning water into wine.  Later when they were playing, Ben had his pots and pans and told me he was being Jesus turning water into wine!!!  It was so cute.   One other little boy my sister-in-law babysits went to the same VBS and was talking about getting some mud to play Jesus helping the blind man see!  Those kids were really paying attention.  hahahaha
They brought coins each day and food items for a local food shelf, and one day helped pack over 5000 meals for Kids Against Hunger!

Now this is a picture I never thought I would see.  The other night my mother-in-law stopped over and climbed up on the back of Dave's new Spyder and went for a ride.  I think she really enjoyed it and I grabbed my camera!Every day we try to get a photo of the kids next to our field of corn.  It's really growing nicely and a little more than "knee high by the 4th of July"!  This was taken a couple of days ago.
Maybe we can get a photo of Dave and me on the Spyder soon!

Yes, that's a Chicago Cubs hat Ben is wearing!  Jon has a Twins hat.  Al and Holly had taken them shopping a while back.

    Hello Jacque…

Can you believe it…Fall is here. Well, at least it feels that way in the air. Especially, up in your neck of the woods. We had the 10th coolest summer recorded here in the Ozarks this year.

I love those small town parades. It takes us all back in time.
    Love the picture too…

I’ve thought about your family a lot over the last few months and Dave’s perseverance of faith to be healthy. My 46 year old cousin (Brian), his family, and parents have transferred back to Rochester, so that he can battle cancer through the Mayo Clinic. He’s been in isolation and I cringe whenever my phone rings with a call from Minnesota.

I keep asking Brian’s mother, my favorite Auntie, if I should, or if they would like me to come up to Rochester? She is a cancer survivor too and we are keeping the faith. So…It is wise for me to ask for you and Dave to come in agreement in prayer for Brian. We all know the power of prayer.

Our health is truly our wealth and each day of life should not ever be taken for granted.

You all be well and have a very special fall season…Greg

Hello, my friend! It's been too long since I checked in on you. Sounds like you are having a good summer, busy as always. Uh, no, I've never seen a cicada shell on a tree! Sounds gross, I think they are pretty ugly! Hope the crops are all still doing well!

Jacque you are greatly missed. Hope you find a few moments to keep us updated. But as usual, family should come first. Grace be with you and Dave with every step you take and word you speak. BTW, love Dave's bike. Yep, I'm a tad jealous...grin.

Your picture of the kids in the corn field reminds me of one my Mom has of my Grandpa who was 6' 6" and the corn was taller than him! Isn't summer speeding by... again??

Thanks for the photos in your post. Really enjoyed seeing Dave and the kids. Yep, the corn looks wonderful. Do the children play hide and seek in the corn like we did when I was young?
Just thinking of you Dave my friend. He looks great. Be well and keep the batteries energized.

Wonderful News all the way around here. Loved the Corn and little ones.
You have been very busy. A very Healthy Balance to Life I would say with all that is going on. Glad your getting away too.
Congrats on your New Son In Law. Time fly when we are busy and having fun.
Last year the Canola was almost over my head , this year it very short and wont yeild much.
We needed rain and now I think its too late. Grasshoppers are in the Hay and moving. We dont have a first Cut of Hay. There is not enough to justifie the Cost of everything. In a few weeks it may be ready and the Havest we think could be early too. Its so hot and things are going to burn up. Could be worse. Im sure you have been though it too.
Glad your getting in to the Shape you want to .
Great Blog full of Great News

    Lovely blog, lovely life. ;-)
Here we have also many fields of corn, I think the corn is higher. So, Kyra enjoys walking in rows. It's also like labyrinth because you don't know if someone is in the corner ... hihihi ... maybe a dog ...

You're putting me to shame... I was bragging about losing 5 pounds since May,lol. I've had to cut down severely on sweets but I'm not finding it as tough as I thought it would be. (Notice I said cut down, not cut out!!) You are just TOO busy - I've been lounging around reading books again, just finished Barbara Walters autobiography.

I'm so glad you guys could go and enjoy the parade this time. It's so nice to kick back every once in a while and just soak up the festivities. That is a short time until the wedding...yikes, I'm sure you'll put together a perfect wedding though. We had a violent storm roll in that made it pretty cold so we stayed home and will light our own stuff tonight and enjoy a little private family firework show....I'm not complaining. Blessings my friend, the pictures were really enjoyable!
